ALABAMA MAN CROSSES THE LINE AND TALLAHASSEE-- The Florida Lottery today announced that PLATINUM PAYOUT Scratch-Off winner, Gary Kimbrel, 35, of Greensboro, AL, claimed a $20,000 top prize at the Florida Lottery Pensacola District Office. Kimbrel purchased his winning ticket from Key Shell, located at 17100 Perdido Key Drive in Pensacola. According to Kimbrel, he purchased a $5 RUBY RED Scratch-Off ticket first and won $20. He then decided to spend his prize money on other various tickets, which turned out to be a good investment. "I scratched my last ticket and saw I won something, but thought it was only two dollars," Kimbrel said. The Scratch-Off game, PLATINUM PAYOUT launched on March 24, and features more than $21 million in prizes. The $2 game offers 20 top prizes of $20,000. The overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.65. There are 15 top prizes still remaining. Tickets can be purchased at any of the more than 13,000 Florida Lottery retail locations. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $19 billion to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. # # # |
