ORLANDO WOMAN WINS $1 MILLION IN THE TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery announced today that $200 MILLION SPECTACULAR Scratch-Off winner Mercedes Marriott, 56, of Orlando, claimed a $1 million top prize at Florida Lottery headquarters on June 17. Marriott chose the one-time, lump-sum payment option for her winnings in the amount of $688,606.50. She purchased her winning ticket at Publix, located at 1980 E. Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee. Marriot first thought she had won a $1,000 prize. "When the clerk told me I was a $1 million winner, I couldn't believe it. I'm still in shock," Marriott said of her winning ticket. The $10 Scratch-Off game, $200 MILLION SPECTACULAR, launched December 30, 2008, and features more than $220 million in prizes. There are 15 of the 20 $1 million top prizes remaining. $200 MILLION SPECTACULAR tickets may be purchased at any of the more than 13,000 Florida Lottery retail locations. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $19 billion to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. # # # |
