SPRING HILL MAN CLAIMS $1 MILLION TALLAHASSEE--The Florida Lottery today announced that MAXIMUM MILLIONS Scratch-Off game winner Richard Martin, 56, of Spring Hill, claimed a $1 million top prize at Florida Lottery headquarters. Martin's wife Cheryl, who accompanied him to Lottery headquarters to claim his cash prize, said she didn't believe him at first when he told her he had won. "He is always playing jokes, so I didn't trust him until I looked at the ticket myself" she said. Martin purchased his winning MAXIMUM MILLIONS ticket at Hess Express, located at 4159 Mariner Boulevard in Spring Hill. The $20 Scratch-Off game, MAXIMUM MILLIONS, launched on July 14, 2008, and features more than $190 million in cash prizes. The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.96. Scratch-Off tickets may be purchased at any of the instant ticket vending machines (ITVMs) or at more than 13,000 Florida Lottery retail locations statewide. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. # # # |
