MEGA MONEY™ WINNERS
CLAIM $1.5 MILLION JACKPOT

TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Lottery announced that the MEGA MONEY™ winners from the July 6 drawing have claimed the $1.5 million MEGA MONEY jackpot. The two winners were Alcides Pi, 75, of Hialeah, and Angel Mejias, 53, of Miramar.

The winners both chose to receive their winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment. Each winner will receive $554,005.09. Pi purchased his winning ticket at Universal Tobacco, located at 380 E. 9th Street in Hialeah. Mejias purchased his winning ticket at La Barata Supermarket, located at 5961 W. 16th Avenue in Hialeah. The retailers each received a bonus incentive of $500 for selling a jackpot-winning ticket.

The Florida Lottery's MEGA MONEY game includes the following features:

  • Top prizes starting at $500,000 increasing to $2 million.
  • A free ticket for matching just the MEGABALL.
  • Advance Play for up to 30 drawings.

Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $1,624,000 for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $21 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.

The next MEGA MONEY drawing will be held, Friday, July 16, at 11:15 p.m. ET with a $500,000 jackpot. Webcasts of Florida Lottery drawings are available on the Lottery's Web site at flalottery.com.
