Food & Lotto is a veteran Florida Lottery retailer of 15 years, and the top-selling independent Lottery retailer in the state!

For many years, Jin Chang was the store owner and manager. His brother Man Soo purchased the store several years later, but has since passed the day-to-day operations to his son, Chris Chang.

Jin Chang's involvement with the store didn’t end with the sale of his business, however; Mr. Chang continued at the family-owned and operated store, greeting his customers personally and giving back to the community until his recent passing. One such contribution was the creation of "Mr. Chang’s A+ Club," where students from 2nd through 5th grades can bring their straight-A report cards into the store to have their picture taken and enter a drawing to win cool prizes, such as bicycles or MP3 players.

"Customers, some of which travel from miles away, are greeted warmly when they enter the store and we strive to build relationships with them," Chris explains. "Taking the time to talk with them about Lottery products, explaining games and communicating the Lottery’s mission to raise revenue for education are the biggest reasons why our sales are so high. People want to know where Lottery money goes and we tell them."

Another part of Food & Lotto’s success lies in its reputation as a lucky store. The more tickets a store sells, the more winning tickets it is likely to produce, and this store has done well on both accounts. One month, Food & Lotto settled 120 Scratch-Off books per week; and there have been years when their annual Lottery sales exceeded more than $3.5 million!

"We've had some really big winners here, including a $52 million FLORIDA LOTTO™ winner," says Chris. As a result, the store’s overall Lottery commissions last year were more than $200,000.

"Our reputation has a lot to do with the success of our store," Chris adds. It is a reputation that has taken years to build, beginning with Jin Chang's stewardship, strong work ethic and commitment to customer service. Though Jin will be missed by all, the Chang family is continuing this family tradition by not only providing continued exceptional customer service, but by also being involved in the community and continuing as a dedicated Lottery retailer.
