LUCKY NORTH BAY VILLAGE RESIDENT CLAIMS $52 MILLION FLORIDA LOTTO™ JACKPOT
~ Retailer Receives $110,000 for Selling Jackpot-Winning Ticket ~
TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Lottery announced today that FLORIDA LOTTO™ winner Miguel Pilgram, 40, of North Bay Village, claimed the April 17, $52 million FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot.
Pilgram chose the one-time, lump-sum payment for his winnings in the amount of $29,244,436.00. The winning FLORIDA LOTTO Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Shell Gas Station, located at 1345 N.E. 79th Street in North Bay Village. The retailer received a bonus incentive of $110,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
Pilgram, who frequently purchases Lottery tickets from Shell Gas Station, found out he was the winner when he stopped by the retailer. Pilgram said he usually doesn┐t check his numbers right away, but when the store manager told him they sold the winning ticket, he decided to check. "When they told me I was a winner I thought I had won $52,000. It took me a few minutes to realize the jackpot was $52 million!" he said.
The winning FLORIDA LOTTO numbers were 15-16-20-32-45-50and the XTRA multiplier was 3.
Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $36.4 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $21 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.
Pilgram is the 168th FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot winner to purchase a winning ticket in Miami-Dade County. To date, there have been more than 950 FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot winners statewide since 1988.
The next FLORIDA LOTTO drawing will be held on Wednesday, April 21, at 11:15 p.m. ET with a $2 million jackpot. Webcasts of Florida Lottery drawings are available on the Lottery's Web site at flalottery.com.
