FIRST $2 LOTTO PLUS™ WINNER CLAIMS $16 MILLION JACKPOT!

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery announced today that FLORIDA LOTTO™ winner Charles E. Hill, 56, of Bradenton, claimed the May 10, $2 LOTTO PLUS™ jackpot in the amount of $16 million - the $6 million base jackpot plus an additional $10 million! Hill is the first LOTTO PLUS jackpot winner since the Florida Lottery introduced the $2 and $3 LOTTO PLUS jackpot levels on March 2, 2008.

Hill chose the one-time, lump-sum payment for the winnings, in the amount of $9,072,011. The winning FLORIDA LOTTO ticket was purchased at Bud's Mini Mart, located at 1000 Carlton Arms Boulevard in Bradenton. The retailer received a bonus incentive of $20,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.

Though Hill often purchases Quick Pick tickets, it was his own numbers that won him the $16 million jackpot. The winning numbers were:

11 - 15 - 22 - 23 - 25 - 42

Hill said he often plays FLORIDA LOTTO and began buying tickets for the $2 LOTTO PLUS option when the enhancements were added to the game in March. Had he purchased a $3 LOTTO PLUS ticket, he would have won $31 million!

"I will continue playing FLORIDA LOTTO," Hill said. "But I think I will start buying tickets for the $3 LOTTO PLUS from now on."

FLORIDA LOTTO is Florida's game of 'choice,' offering players three levels of jackpots to choose from: The $1 LOTTO jackpot starts at $3 million and increases with each rollover if no one matches the six-of-six winning numbers; the $2 LOTTO PLUS jackpot starts at $13 million - the base jackpot plus $10 million; and, the $3 LOTTO PLUS jackpot starts at $28 million - the base jackpot plus the $10 million and an additional $15 million!

Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $4.3 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $18 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.

Hill is the 5th FLORIDA LOTTO winner to purchase a winning ticket in Manatee County. He is the 938th FLORIDA LOTTO winner since 1988.

The next FLORIDA LOTTO drawing will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at 11:00 p.m. ET, with a $9 million base jackpot. Webcasts of Florida Lottery drawings are available on the Lottery's Web site at flalottery.com.

* The advertised jackpots are the amount the Lottery will pay a single winner in 30 annual payments. If there are multiple six-of-six winners, the jackpot prizes will be shared equally within the applicable prize pool. Winners of the $2 and $3 jackpot prize pools will win their share of the applicable prize pool as well as their share of the lesser jackpot pools. If no ticket matches all six winning numbers, the base jackpot rolls over and the cash in the base jackpot prize pool is carried over to the next drawing. The $2 and $3 jackpot prize pools will not be carried over.
