THE FLORIDA LOTTERY IS GIVING AWAY GAS AND CASH! TALLAHASSEE - On Monday, June 30, the Florida Lottery will launch its newest limited-time promotional game, Summer Cash™. The game provides players with the chance to win $250,000, gas for a lifetime, gas for a year and instant-win cash prizes! Summer Cash is a $5 limited-time game scheduled for sale June 30 through August 26. During the eight-week game period, players will have the opportunity to win a total of eight $250,000 cash prizes, 40 gas for a lifetime prizes and 400 gas for a year prizes. Weekly drawings will be held each Wednesday, starting on July 9. In addition, there will be hundreds of thousands of $25 instant cash winners. "We always try to be responsive to our customers, and we thought, `who couldn't use some extra cash and free gas for the summer?' But we're actually hoping that the lucky winners of the gas for life prizes will live to see the day when they won't need to use it because all our cars will be running on electricity or hydrogen," said Florida Lottery Secretary Leo DiBenigno. In a recent online poll, more than 1,100 visitors to the Florida Lottery's Web site chose gasoline as the prize they would most like to win. Additionally, results from the Lottery's April and May monthly surveys indicate nearly 90 percent of players who participated found "gasoline for a year" to be an appealing prize option. As a result, the Florida Lottery is offering more than $2 million in cash prizes and free gas cards in the eight weekly drawings offered in the Summer Cash promotion. Each Summer Cash ticket will have a unique ticket number that will automatically be entered in the current week's drawing. Weekly drawings will be held each Wednesday through the end of the game period, for a total of eight drawings. Each Summer Cash ticket will be good for only the draw date displayed on the Summer Cash ticket. In each drawing, one player will win $250,000 and five players will win gas for a lifetime and fifty players will win gas for a year. Winning numbers for each weekly drawing will be available on the Florida Lottery's Web Site and at Florida Lottery retailers on Wednesday at approximately 3:00 p.m. ET. Winning Summer Cash tickets must be validated at any of the more than 13,000 Florida Lottery retailers throughout the state or at a Florida Lottery office within 180 days from the date of the applicable drawing. More than 100,000 players will instantly win cash prizes of $25 in the Summer Cash game. If a Summer Cash ticket is an instant winner, the Lottery terminal will play island music and the words, "You¿re a Summer Cash winner." Also, all instant-win Summer Cash tickets will contain a "Prize Alert" symbol, and a Cash prize coupon for $25 will automatically print following the ticket. Cash prize coupons may be redeemed immediately at a Florida Lottery retailer and must be claimed by October 25, 2008. Summer Cash is projected to generate an additional $4.7- $5.8 million for education. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $18 billion to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures Scholarships.
